Accountant Career

There are lots of job opportunities available in the field of accounting but to become an accountant at least a bachelor degree is required. The people who have some specialization or certification or have masters' degree have more advantage for prestigious accountant jobs.

Today, the job of an accountant has become more challenging, tedious job with more working hours. An accountant is required to maintain books of accounts, responsible for calculation and timely payment of various taxes, calculation and disbursement of salaries to the staff. Today, the accountant job is not restricted only to maintain financial records and calculation of taxes but more modern aspects such as financial & investment planning, budget analysis and legal services have also come in their purview.

There are generally four main areas of jobs under the accountant career which are public accountant, government accountant, management accountant and internal auditor. At public accounting major area of work includes accounting, taxation & audit work. At government accounting major work relates to maintain laws and regulations related to expenditure and receipts and taxation. Management accountants are hired by corporate and their major work relates to cost accounts, budget analysis, performance and asset management. Internal auditor's works relate to scrutinize any frauds and are responsible for smooth management & information systems in the organization and scrutinizing and evaluation of internal records for financial accuracy.

The job of an accountant is considered white collar & is an indoor office job with good pay scales ranging from $55000 to $150000 per annum. Further the job market as an accountant is expected to grow at a rate of 15% for the coming few years. In the beginning of an accountant career an accountant has to give lot of hard work in order to learn the industry skills, that pays him off as experienced is gained within a few years of working. So stability is required in the path of an accountant career which is rewarded in monetary terms when experienced is gain after working for few years.
